OBJECTIVE: Learn the numbers 0 through 9.
TASK: Listen to the sound files and repeat them many, many times!
PERPLEXED?
OK. It's an issue now !!!
Lección Cuatro
Even though you don't memorize telephone numbers any more, since all you have to do is program them into the phone, try to at least memorize the first 10 digits in Spanish: from 0 through 9.
After you "know" these, play with your cell phone and say the numbers in Spanish as you punch them!

You're advancing !!!
We've been working real hard on making the sounds of Spanish so far, but you need to start throwing in some words now.
For starters, let's pick up on the numbers from 0 through 9.
You'll see why in a bit ...
0
ce ro Difficulty in Spain with "c = th." Roll your "r" just a little.
1
u no Keep a clear "u."
2
dos Don't forget: "D" sounds like the first 2 letters of "they."
3
tres Has a consonant cluster of TRE-
4
cua tro Diphthong and consonant cluster.
5
cin co First syllable has "soft c" - and second has "hard c."
6
seis This diphthong is different from the NEXT one.
7
sie te Diphthong and don't forget to bite your tongue on the "te."
8
o cho Can you believe this is only 3 letters?
9
nue ve Diphthong and the "lazy b-v" sound.
The numbers above have been divided into syllables. Those syllables indicated by the color change are due to the fact that they are the "next-to-last syllable." I.e., there's more than one syllable here.
If you study through the "accent rules," you'll see why this is happening to those syllables.
That is to say, you'll KNOW why the word sounds like it does: a LOUD syllable + a softer one.

Go through those numbers a few times, then do the exercise below, to see how quickly you got them.

Now you can click here and go to the real numbers page.
Work on phone numbers for a few days.
This helps your pronunciation, and helps you get the numbers down!
Come back tomorrow, and see what else you can learn.
